My interest in photography started long before I became a physician. As it turned out, it became a life-long hobby. Over the years, I have come to realize that there are many similarities between medicine and photography, including the quest for perfection in what we do and how both disciplines provide us with the opportunity to see and appreciate life’s countless miracles, either within us or around us.
As a practicing physician, I am also constantly looking for ways to help the less fortunate who are unable to obtain decent healthcare. DBS website was originally created in 2009 in hopes of not only displaying potentially pleasing photographs but more importantly to raise funds for a charitable cause by making the prints of photos on display available for a nominal donation.
For years, DBS supported the Care for AIDS Patients (CAP) Fund in an Infectious Diseases Clinic in St. Louis, Missouri Fortunately, as more and more patients with HIV obtained gainful employment, the need for CAP fund diminished significantly. For this reason, DBS has rededicated itself to yet another great charitable cause: bringing health and hope to rural Haiti by supporting the Rasin Foundation (www.rasinfoundation.com). All proceeds will be used to help the fund-raising activities of this great foundation.
